Late goals lift Eagle girls past Bluejays

The Windom Area girls hockey team scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation Tuesday night, pulling out a 5-3 victory at Waseca.

The Eagles and Bluejays went back and forth much of the way, with the game tied on three different occasions.

Trailing 1-0 late in the first period, the Eagles tied the game on a Marissa Becker unassisted goal.

The Eagles then took a 2-1 lead 48 seconds into the second period on a goal by Marenna Bang.

Waseca tied the game 2:44 into the second period, but the Eagles took a 3-2 lead with 3:15 left in the period on a shorthanded breakaway goal from Presley Dockter.

Waseca tied the game at 3-3 halfway through the third period, but the Eagles took the lead for good with 1:38 left on the clock when Toria Robillard batted in a rebound off a shot by Dockter.

Then, with 18 seconds left on the clock, Reagan Haugen fired the puck into an empty Waseca net, sealing the victory. Madyson Fredin assisted on the goal.

The Eagles outshot Waseca 36-20 in the game. Goalie Fiona Robillard finished with 17 saves.
