David Wayne Muller was born on December 19, 1933, to the late Reuben and Amy (Erickson) Muller at their home in Dale Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. David attended Green Hill Country School, sometimes riding his pony to school and racing with the neighbor boy. He graduated from Windom High School with the Class of 1951.

Dave farmed all his life, first with his dad and brothers, then with his sons. He enlisted in the United States Army in November 1953. He served two years, stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds Missile Range, Las Cruces, NM, then was transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve to complete his military obligation.

On October 24, 1959, Dave was united in marriage to Beatrice “Beatty” Jean Johnson. They settled on the Muller Family Farm in Dale Township, where he was a steward of the land. The marriage was blessed with three sons, Tom, Tim, and Steve.

Dave was a dedicated longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Windom and served as an elder, deacon, trustee and usher. He was also active in the American Legion Post #206 of Windom, Zuhrah Shrine, El Riad Shrine, and Prudence Lodge #97 of Windom. David served on the Board of Education of Windom School District # 177 from 1967 to 1974, during the time when the new middle high school was built.

Dave enjoyed reading, gardening, taking care of his farm yard and lawn, traveling and golfing. He liked to do maintenance work in the church building and especially on the lawn. He was fond of pets, especially Goldie “the shop cat” and Fudgie, our “granddog”. He cherished the time spent with his family and granddaughters, as well as time together at their Fish Lake cabin.

On Monday October 10th, Dave was having an eye exam in Sioux Falls. After finding complications during the eye exam, he was admitted to the Avera Health Hospital Emergency Room in Sioux Falls, where he passed away suddenly with Beatty at his side.

Left to cherish Dave’s memory are his wife of 62 years, Beatrice “Beatty” Muller; two sons, Thomas (Colleen) Muller of Windom and Steven (Brenda) Muller of Windom; five granddaughters, Megan, Amanda (fiancé, Andy Pfeffer), Amy, Ashley, and Lindsay; sister-in-law, Delores Muller of Windom; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Colleen) Olson of Crystal, MN; as well as many relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben and Amy Muller; son, Timothy David Muller; three siblings, Marilyn Oberle, Warren and Richard Muller; and in-laws, Jack and Hazel Johnson.

Memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church of Windom, Windom Area Health Foundation, or a charity of choice.
