Construction on Highway 86 through Lakefield is complete, and the detour was removed yesterday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Traffic had been detoured since mid-April for reconstruction of 1.3 miles of Highway 86. The project included grading, pavement, utility replacement, lighting, drainage, and sidewalk reconstruction.
Benefits of the project includes improved pedestrian accommodations, updated utilities, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor.
R & R Excavating, Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $8,295,538.92.
