Windom board seeks grant for activity fees

The Windom Area School Board approved a resolution for a grant application form to the Minnesota State High School League that would help pay for activities fees for students at Windom Area High School.

There has been $700,000 set aside by the MSHSL and that money would be distributed to high schools across the state. The grant is to assist, recognize, promote and fund extra-curricular participation for students in grades 9-12 who participate in athletics and fine arts.

Superintendent Jamie Frank said that she thinks the amount of money will be based on the free and reduced priced lunch menus because the grant specifically asks for the amount of students who receive these meals.

Frank said the school will likely know if it received the grant money within a couple of months.
