Windom parks department workers had a bit of a surprise while tearing down the old Island Park restrooms, recently — a basement.
Park Superintendent John Ketzenberg said it’s unclear what the purpose was for the basement. Nothing was found inside.
The restroom building, which was located near the park entrance, has been removed. Plans are to build new restrooms as part of a plan to replace the current Island Park shelter.
