TUESDAY VOLLEYBALL: Wolverines roll past Loyola; Falcons fall in five

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey closed the regular season Tuesday with a 3-1 victory at Mankato Loyola.

The Wolverines started the match strong, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22. Loyola rallied for a 25-21 win in set three, but the Wolverines dominated the fourth set, rolling to a 25-9 victory.

The Wolverines were sparked at the service line by Phithsada Phoumivong, who went 23-of-25 with five aces in the win. Isabella Vidana was 11-of-13 with four aces and Kearney Wall had two aces on 6-of-8 serving. Michala Morin went 18-of-19 with an ace.

Morin fired a team-high 17 kills. Paige McMullen added 13 kills and Kyla Wuertz finished with eight kills.

Jaci Tollefson handed out 38 set assists. Morin had a team-high 23 digs. Brooke Naas added 12 digs.

RRC 25-12-25-21-08 = 2

Red Rock Central couldn’t hold onto a lead Tuesday night, as Worthington rallied from a 2-1 deficit to claim a 3-2 victory at Lamberton.

RRC won the opening set 25-20 and took set three 25-22, but the Trojans regrouped, pulling away late for a 25-21 win in set four, then winning the deciding fifth set 15-8.

RRC was led at the net by Abby Evans and Jada Radmaker with nine kills each. Sondra Rindfleisch had five kills.

Maia Scheffler was 23-of-24 serving with two aces. Radmaker was 15-of-15 with two aces. Rindfleisch was 13-of-13 with two aces and Emily DeCock went 14-of-14 with an ace.

DeCock finished with 24 set assists and a team-high 19 digs.
