Red Rock Conference Meet
Mt. Lake Area’s girls and boys each finished as runners-up in the team standings, and five Wolverines in total earned all-conference honors at the Red Rock Conference Meet, held Monday at Town and Country Golf Course in Fulda.
The Wolverine boys scored 43 points, while MCCF won the title with 38.
Meanwhile, the Wolverine girls finished with 47 points. MCCF won the title with 20.
The boys individual race was tight at the front, with Wolverine junior Kody Wassman leading much of the way before being passed in the final 200 meters by Tim Salentiny of Heron Lake-Okabena. Wassman took second with a time of 17:42.
Zach Klassen added a fourth-place time of 18:16 and Ethan Schroeder finished seventh with a time of 19:12, earning all-conference honors.
For the girls, MLA’s frontrunning duo of Julia Brinkman and Lydia Rete had one goal in mind — prevent a possible perfect score.
