The danger for wildfire in Southwest Minnesota is very high today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for all of Southwest Minnesota. Counties include Cottonwood, Jackson, Lyon, Lincoln, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone and Rock.
The warning is in effect from noon today until 7 p.m.
A red flag warning means the area is experiencing weather conditions that are ideal for wildfire, including strong winds, warm temperatures and low humidity levels.
Residents should not burn anything in the counties listed in the red flag warning. Any recent burning should be checked to ensure the fire is completely out.
