Near ideal conditions has pushed the 2022 harvest along at a brisk pace.
All across the Cottonwood County area, soybean fields are picked clean. On Tuesday, Anthony Elg, account manager for the agronomy division of Bingham Lake-based Country Pride Cooperative, estimated that 90% of area soybeans had been harvested.
To some, this may come as a surprise, given that the soybean harvest started in late-September.
“It has been very favorable harvest weather,” Elg said. “Guys can pretty much go every day.”
Elg said that in this area soybean yields ranged from the mid-50s (bushels per acre), to the lower 60s.
