Eagles sweep Cardinals; Falcons top Wolverines

The Windom Eagle volleyball team was able to close set strong Tuesday night, pulling away late for a 3-0 sweep over Redwood Valley at Windom.

The Eagles had a strong night at the service line with 14 ace serves as a team in the match. Tristyn Maras was 12-of-14 serving with five aces, while Elliot Espenson was 12-of-13 with three aces and Hadley Sammons went 18-of-19 with two aces. Charlee Huska added two aces on 12-of-13 serving.

Maras led the team at the net with 13 kills and six solo blocks. Espenson finished with seven kills and three blocks.

Makenna McNamara had a team-high 17 set assists. Kadyn Paulson finished with 13 digs.

Late surges at the end of each set were the story of the night Tuesday in Comfrey, as Red Rock Central pulled away for a 3-1 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey.

In each of the four sets, the winning team rallied from a deficit late in the set to pull away for the win.

RRC’s attack was sparked at the service line, where the team had 15 ace serves for the night. Sondra Rindfleisch led the Falcons, going a perfect 28-of-28 with six aces serves. Jada Radmaker went 11-of-13 with four aces. Maia Scheffler was 14-of-16 with three aces and Ella Erickson was 15-of-15 with two aces.

Rindfleisch paced RRC at the net with nine kills and two solo blocks. Josie Horning added six and Mercedes Myers had five.

Emily DeCock had 27 set assists. Rindfleisch finished with a team-high 14 digs.

Jaci Tollefson went 19-of-21 serving with five aces for MLAC. Isabella Vidana was 19-of-21 with four aces.

Michala Morin led MLAC with 14 kills. Kearney Wall had 13 and Brooke Naas finished with 11.

Tollefson had 38 set assists and a team-high 13 digs. Morin added 12 digs.
