Redwood Valley Invite
The Windom girls took second and the boys were third at Thursday’s Redwood Valley Invitational cross country meet, held at the Redwood Falls Golf Course.
The Eagle girls finished with 56 points and won a sixth-score tiebreaker over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop. Redwood Valley won the meet with 33 points.
Windom’s boys finished with 61 points. Marshall won the team title with 25 points.
Individually, Windom sophomore Kaylee Walklin turned in a career-best performance to win the girls’ race. Walklin finished with a time of 18:50, which was nearly a full minute ahead of the runner-up finisher.
Charlotte Nauman placed 10th (23:08), followed closely by Alivia Letcher in 11th (23:10) and Chloe Shamp in 12th (23:11). Ella Smith placed 22nd (24:06).
For the boys, Aaden Nauman placed sixth with a time of 17:17. He was followed by Charlie Smith in 10th (17:32), Thomas Green in 11th (17:36) and Jacob Green in 15th (18:10). Eli Bordewyk placed 19th (18:28).
St. James Invite
The Mt. Lake Area girls and boys cross country teams each placed fifth at the St. James Invitational, held Tuesday at the St. James Golf Course.
MLA’s girls finished with 111 points. Luverne won the team title with 27 points.
The MLA boys scored 121 points. Luverne won the team title with 35 points.
MLA’s girls were led by Julia Brinkman, who finished 13th with a time of 22:17. She was closely followed by Lydia Rete in 14th (22:18). Meghan Johnson was 24th (23:32), followed by Theresa Nwaiga in 31st (24:20) and Annika Brinkman in 36th (25:01).
The MLA boys were led by Kody Wassman, who finished sixth with a time of 17:05. Zach Klassen placed 16th (17:56), followed by Jordan Linscheid in 34th (19:12), Anthony Turquin in 35th (19:13) and Ethan Schroeder in 36th (19:27).
