Area soybean harvest off and running

Breezy, sunny conditions welcomed in the 2022 soybean harvest this week, as area farmers tackle mostly early soybean varieties.

Most area soybean fields aren’t quite ready for combines. In some areas, it appeared farmers took a few rows along fence lines and road ditches before calling it quits, for now. In other spots, entire fields have been harvested.

Early reports have been mixed. A few farmers reported yields in the 50 to 55 bushel-per-acre range. And, the consensus seems to be that soybean harvest will be in full swing very soon.
