Eagles rally, top Trojans in five

The Windom Eagle volleyball team roared back from an early two-set deficit, rallying for a 3-2 victory over Worthington at Windom.

The Eagles improved to 5-0 with the win.

Worthington won a thrilling 30-28 opening set, then held the lead throughout set two, winning 25-22. The Trojans jumped to an early lead in the third set before the Eagles stormed back, led by solid defense and a stellar night blocking the ball.

As a team, Windom recorded 14 solo blocks for the match, led by Elliot Espenson’s five blocks. Kameron Rupp added four solo blocks.

Meanwhile, the Eagle back row was sharp, allowing only four ace serves in the match. Kadyn Paulson had a team-high 25 digs. Tristyn Maras added 14 and Hadley Sammons had 13.

Makenna McNamara had a team-high four ace serves on 15-of-19 serving. Sammons went 22-of-24 serving with an ace.

At the net, Maras led the Eagles with 20 kills. Espenson finished with six kills and Hannah Dauer added five.

Red Rock Central struggled to get its offense going Thursday night, falling behind early and taking a 3-0 loss to Cedar Mountain in Morgan.

The Cougars rolled to a 25-13 win in the opening set and held a sizeable lead in set two before a late Falcon rally. Cedar Mountain pulled away late in both the second and third sets to seal the sweep.

Sondra Rindfleisch led RRC with seven kills. Emily DeCock added five kills.

Jadyn Steen went 10-of-12 serving with two aces.

Reilly Hubin had a team-high nine set assists. Maia Scheffler had 22 digs.
