At Monday’s meeting, the Windom School Board approved a contract agreement with the district’s paraprofessionals union.
The contract with the Minnesota School Employees Association Windom chapter is good until the 2023-24 school year and will see a 7.4% pay increase this year and a 3.25% increase in the second year.
The board also acted to increase pay for substitutes, whether it be teachers, paras, food service or custodial.
Incentives will be based on the amount of hours worked. A substitute teacher who works 1-5 days per month will be paid $155 per day. If they work 11-plus days per month, they will be paid $200 per day.
Also, the school’s retirees will be rewarded for coming back and substituting, whether it be a custodian, para or a teacher. The hourly retirees will make $5 more per hour than the regular substitutes. This means the retired substitute teachers will make $175 per day instead of $155 per day.
