The Windom Pirates capitalized on scoring chances and made an early lead stick Saturday, defeating the Pipestone A’s 9-6 at Pipestone.
Pipestone struck first, but the Pirates took the lead for good with a five-run second inning. Kyle Espenson hit a two-run single and Braydon Kreofsky drove in three runs, with a runner scoring all the way from first base, on a single.
Windom added a run in the second on an error, the put the game out of reach in the sixth. Kreofsky hit an RBI single, Conner Redman scored on a passed ball and Alex Fink hit an RBI double for a 9-1 lead.
Kreofsky finished with three hits and four RBI in the win.
Josh Garrison picked up the pitching win, keeping the A’s at bay for 6-2/3 innings. He scattered nine hits, walked one and struck out two. Collin Lovell worked a shutout ninth to earn a save.

Lamberton 135 200 20x = 13-19-1
A strong-hitting Lamberton team got the jump on the Windom Pirates early Thursday and cruised to a 13-8 non-league victory at Lamberton.
The Pirates took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Braydon Kreofsky hit an RBI double and Noah Kloss and Ross Ackerman had back-to-back RBI singles.
In the second, the Pirates took a 4-1 lead on a Kreofsky RBI fielder’s choice.
Lamberton answered, tying the game in the bottom of the second and scoring five runs in the third, taking the lead for good.
Windom trailed 13-4 before scoring four runs in the eighth inning. Kreofsky drew a bases-loaded walk, Kobe Lovell had an RBI groundout and Kloss hit a two-run single.
Nick Christensen and Kloss each had two hits in the loss.
Kloss also took the pitching loss, working the first three innings.
