After change of heart, area candidate drops out

It was a last-minute decision to file for Cottonwood County Auditor/Treasurer and sometimes late decisions have a way of crumbling.

That was the case for Linda Loewen of Mt. Lake who filed for the seat on the final day of filing a few weeks ago. After giving it plenty of thought, Loewen had a change of heart. Unfortunately, that came more than 48 hours after she filed.

By state law, a candidate has 48 hours to “undo” a filing. After that, there’s no recourse, so Loewen’s name must ap-pear on the General Election ballot in November.
