Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove continued its recent hot streak Tuesday, using a six-run fifth inning to pull away for a 9-3 win over Murray County Central in Slayton.
The Falcons scored in the first inning on a wild pitch and on an error in the second inning.
In the fifth, Mercedes Myers hit a two-run single, Isabella Rentschler plated a run with a ground out, Avery Schoer drove in a run when reaching on an error and two additional runs scored on errors.
Hailey Amsden and Amelia Sikel each had two hits in the win.
Addeson Jenniges picked up the pitching win, scattering five hits. She walked three and struck out five.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s offense was sharp early Tuesday, rolling to a 22-7 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda in Okabena. The Wolverines then loaded the bus for Edgerton, where they dropped a 14-1 decision to Edgerton-Southwest Christian in the completion of a game that had been previously suspended due to weather.
In Tuesday’s opener, the Wolverines slugged out 14 hits, including four extra-base hits. MLAC also capitalized on 11 walks issued by HLOF pitchers.
Thaila Sengchan had a big day at the plate, hitting a double and a triple and driving in six runs. Brooke Naas added three hits and five RBI in the win.
Kennedie Simon worked two shutout innings to earn the pitching victory.
In the nightcap, the Wolverines trailed 3-0 when the game was suspended due to lightning nearly two weeks ago. Upon resumption, ESWC continued to roll on offense, plating 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
MLAC’s only run scored on a Presley Dockter RBI single in the fourth inning. Jaci Tollefson had the only other hit for the Wolverines in the game.
Alana Morey took the pitching loss, allowing five runs in one-third of an inning inside the circle.
