Jaguars rally past Wolverines

MLAC 311 104 1 = 11-18-1
T/ML/GHEC 300 146 x = 14-14-2

The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey softball team saw a lead slip away in the rain Friday, as the Wolverines fell 14-11 to Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain at Truman.

The Jaguars took an 8-6 lead with a four-run fifth inning. After MLAC regained the lead with four runs in the top of the sixth, the Jaguars took the lead for good with a six-run sixth.

The Wolverines got on the board in the first inning on a Brooke Naas RBI double, a wild pitch and an Annika Brinkman sacrifice fly.

Naas added an RBI single in the second. Taila Sengchan had an RBI single in the third and Naas blasted a solo home run in the fourth, giving MLAC a 6-3 lead at the time.

Down 8-6 in the top of the sixth, the Wolverines mounted a rally. Brinkman and Sengchan hit RBI singles and Jaci Tollefson yanked a two-run double for a 10-8 lead.

But the Jaguars used two wild pitches and a grand slam home run to regain the lead in the bottom of the inning.

Tollefson had five hits in the loss for the Wolverines. Naas, Alana Morey and Sengchan had three hits each.

Naas took the pitching loss, allowing five runs on five walks and one hit in two-thirds of an inning of relief.
