Worthington Invite
Windom’s boys placed fourth and the girls were seventh at the Worthington Invitational, held Thursday.
The Eagle boys finished with 90 points. Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central was 11th with 7 points. Worthington won the team title with 139 points.
Windom’s girls finished with 33 points. WWG/RRC was 11th with 6½ points. Luverne won the team title with 177½ points.
Windom’s boys were paced by double-event winner Alex Altman, who took first in the shot put (46-4¾) and discus (131-1).
Bryan Macario finished second in the 400 (54.65). Dylan Serreyn added runner-up finishes in the triple jump (40-11) and high jump (6-0) and was third in the long jump (18-9¼). The team of Macario, Teigen Wormstadt, Carter Vancura and Serreyn placed third in the 4×400 relay (3:45.70).
Lucy Stevens led the Eagle girls, finishing second in the 400 (1:09.52). The 4×800 relay team of Kaylee Walklin, Haidyn Sammons, Hadley Sammons and Hannah Dauer placed second (10:54.69). Walklin took third in the 1,600 (5:31.92). The team of Walklin, Erika Lopez, Dauer and Stevens took third in the 4×400 relay (4:36.46).
WWG/RRC’s boys were led by Kole Curry’s fourth-place finish in the 100 dash (11.87). WWG/RRC’s girls were led by a fourth-place finish from Kelsey DeSmith in the high jump (4-6).
Vrklan Relays
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey traveled to Arlington Thursday for the Vrklan Relays, facing several new Section 2A opponents.
Because the meet included several unique events, including three co-ed relays, no team scores were kept.
The Wolverine boys were led by Kody Wassman, who took first in the 1,600 (5:01.52). Caden Swoboda was second in the 3,200 (11:24.79). Jordan Linscheid took third in the 200 (25.14). Tido Xayachak took third in the pole vault (9-6) and triple jump (37-5).
MLAC’s boys team of Cole Kleven, Ethan Schroeder, Swoboda and Wassman added a win in the distance medley relay (6:30.08). The team of Luke Klassen, Xayachak, Linscheid and Kleven was second in the 4×100 (48.77) and the team of Luke Klassen, Zach Klassen, Schroeder and Kleven took second in the 4×400 (3:49.25).
The top finish for the Wolverine girls came from Riley Schroeder, who was fifth in the pole vault (7-6).
MLAC added a runner-up finish in the co-ed throwers 4×100 relay, with the team of Kade Wassman, Brie Anacker, Micah Holmberg and Johannah Peterson finishing in 57.60. The co-ed 4×800 relay team of Kate Janzen, Swoboda, Lana Kestner and Zach Klassen also placed second (9:55.66).
