Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove tried to mount a late rally but couldn’t push the tying run across the plate in a 6-5 loss to Murray County Central Tuesday at Slayton.

The Falcons held an early 1-0 lead when Cole VanDeWiele scored on an error.

MCC answered to take the lead, but RRC/WWG took a 3-2 lead in the third on a wild pitch and an RBI triple from Ashton Juhnke.

MCC regained the lead in the bottom of the third and led 6-3 heading to the seventh inning when the Falcons scored a pair of runs on a rare two-run groundout from Juhnke. But with the tying run at second, a groundout ended the game.

Isaac Simonson had two hits for the Falcons.

Juhnke took the pitching loss, allowing four runs on five hits in two innings. He walked two and struck out two.
