Strong winds Thursday morning have caused a semi truck to blow over on Highway 71 north of Windom, near County Road 3.
The State Patrol, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department, Windom Fire Department and Windom Ambulance were dispatched to the scene shortly after 8:15 a.m. Thursday. There has been no word yet about injuries from the blow-over.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that because of the blow-over, traffic on Highway 71 is being detoured west on County Road 22 to County Road 4 up to Jeffers. The detour then runs on Highway 30 until it reconnects with Highway 71.
Southwest Minnesota is in a wind advisory for the entire day today, as forecasts are calling for sustained winds stronger than 25 miles per hour, with gusts to over 50 miles per hour.
