It was a banner day for Windom and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central speech teams at the Section 3A Speech Tournament at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall Saturday.
Windom qualified eight individuals for the Class A State Speech Tournament at Eastview High School in Apple Valley on April 23. WWG/RRC, meanwhile, will advance a trio.
Advancing to state from Windom are section runners-up Makenna McNamara in original oratory, Virginia Jensen in creative expression, Harriet Lohse in drama, and Eric Cendejas Caballero and Alex Garcia in duo interpretation.
Finishing third and advancing to state are Kaylan Donchez in original oratory and Lauren Kelly and Andres Rodriguez Caballero in duo.
WWG/RRC will be represented by the trio of Jaden Scholl, who won the section title in poetry; Elizabeth Wiggins, the section champ in drama; and Lexi Weber, the section runner-up in extemporaneous reading.
