Semi truck strikes gas pump, limited damage

In the “it-could-have-been-a-lot-worse” department, a semi truck apparently struck a gas pump last week.

The mishap occurred on March 30 at Freedom convenience store on Highway 60-71. Shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to police, a 2018 Freightliner semi driven by Davey Sofer of Lauderhill, Fla., pulled into the west side of the Freedom lot and apparently moved a bit too close to the gas pumps.

Store employees reported limited damage to the pump and pump cover. The truck was not damaged.
