For the first time in school history, Windom Area High School’s speech team captured the Big South Conference small school division championship at the BSC tournament in Marshall Thursday.
Windom punctuated that success with four team members named all-conference and five others receiving honorable mention. Three other place winners were named conference finalists.
All-conference went to the top two finishers in each category, while those earning third place in each category received honorable mention.
“We coaches are so very proud of the Windom speakers for their performance at the Big South Conference,” said Windom Coach Lisa Letcher. “It is tough competition and to bring home the championship in our division for the first time in school history is very special.”
Windom won the small school division with 96 points, while Luverne was second with 76 points.
Marshall won the big school division with 190 points, followed by Fairmont and Worthington with 178 and 104 points, respectively.
