Council officially puts Cottonwood Lake development in motion

The South Cottonwood Lake development project officially made lift-off at last night’s Windom City Council meeting.

By unanimous votes, the council approved development agreements for both the housing development along the south side of the lake and also the 44-unit apartment project in the same area. Both had received positive recommendations from the Economic Development Authority a day earlier.

The plan is for Cemstone to move its ready mix plant from the Cottonwood Lake area to North Windom Industrial Park. That process will begin this spring. Voss Plumbing & Heating of Paynesville would acquire the property and sell multiple lots, including seven lakeshore lots. Apollo Development (which built Windom’s AmericInn) would acquire 2.2 acres and construct the 44-unit apartment complex.
