Veterans Memorial fund remains short of funds

A highly visible memorial which would be built to honor Windom area veterans is still in serious need of donations, according to organizers.

The Veterans Memorial, which would be built at the curve of Highway 60-71, in the center of Windom, is expected to cost $75,000. According to Justin Schmit, treasurer for the Windom Area Foundation, which is the project host for donations, the Memorial Fund is $12,000 short of the goal.

The project relies 100% on donations. Once it is built, it will be turned over to the City of Windom for flag replacement, future maintenance, etc.

If enough additional funds are available, the memorial area could also receive attractive landscaping.

To donate, go to www.windomareafoundation.com and click on the link marked “donate to veterans memorial,” or send a check marked “Veterans Memorial” to: Windom Area Foundation, Box 351, Windom, MN, 56101.
