Marshall 42-42 = 84
Marshall’s relentless defense kept the Windom Eagle girls basketball team from establishing its offense Friday, as the Tigers cruised to an 84-32 victory at Marshall.
Marshall held the Eagles to 33% shooting from the field and forced Windom into 25 turnovers. The Tigers turned those turnovers into 43 points, shooting 57% from the field for the game.
KJ Huska led the Eagles with 12 points. Kendyl Sammons added nine points.
RRC 31-19 = 50
CM 18-18 = 36
Red Rock Central was able to control the lane Saturday, leading to a 50-36 victory over Cedar Mountain in Morgan.
The Falcons held a 13-point halftime lead behind a good inside-outside game. In the second half, the Falcons pounded the ball inside, scoring all but four of their points as a result of interior shots.
Karli Arkell led the Falcons with 19 points, 13 in the first half. Sondra Rindfleisch scored 10 of her 14 in the second half and Lilly Stavnes had all of her 12 points in the first half.
WWG 33-29 = 62
CM 11-16 = 27
Westbrook-Walnut Grove turned in a dominant defensive effort Friday, rolling to a 62-27 win over Cedar Mountain in Morgan.
The Chargers held the Cougars to five field goals and 11 points in the first half. That allowed WWG to build a commanding 22-point halftime edge.
WWG also had the hot hand from outside, hitting 11 three-pointers as a team.
Amelia Sikel led WWG with 21 points in the win. Isabel Klumper chipped in 17 points.
RRC 29-20 = 49
HBC 20-43 = 63
Hills-Beaver Creek roared to life, offensively, in the second half Friday night, racing to a 63-49 victory over Red Rock Central at Hills.
RRC held a nine-point halftime lead, but HBC found its touch from the outside in the second half. The Patriots hit nine three-pointers in the game, with nearly all coming after halftime.
RRC had a ragged night from the free throw line and committed 23 turnovers, which combined to allow HBC to rally after halftime.
Karli Arkell led RRC with 18 points. Lilly Stavnes added 11 in the loss.Â
