Eagle boys shut down Wolverines

Windom 34-36 = 70
MLAC 21-32 = 53

The Windom Eagle boys basketball team got off to a strong start Thursday night, stifling Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s offense to record a 70-53 victory at Mt. Lake.

The Eagles came out firing from long range in the opening half, knocking down six three-pointers as a team. Meanwhile, the Eagles held the Wolverines in check throughout the first half, building a 13-point halftime cushion.

In the second half, the Wolverines tried to mount a comeback, cutting the Eagle lead to nine points late. But Windom held MLAC scoreless for the last three minutes of the game. Meanwhile, Windom closed the game with an 8-0 run to seal the victory.

A quartet of Eagles scored in double figures in the game, led by Henry Erickson and Drew Rothenberger with 15 points each – a career-high for Rothenberger. Dylan Serreyn added 14 points and Abe McKibbin scored 11.
