Bucs rally past Eagle boys

The Windom boys basketball team couldn’t hang onto a late lead Saturday afternoon, falling 67-63 to Blue Earth Area in Blue Earth.

Windom held a one-point halftime edge and stretched the lead to seven in the second half, but BEA battled back behind hot shooting.

The Bucs shot 51% from the field for the game while holding the Eagles to 40% from the field. That sparked a rally that saw the Bucs turn a seven-point deficit into a lead in less than a two-minute stretch.

The Bucs were able to ice the game from the line late.

Henry Erickson paced the Eagles with 25 points. Abe McKibbin scored 15 and Teigan Wormstadt added 10 in the loss.

MLAC 24-34 = 58
HLOF 23-14 = 37

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey slammed the door on the Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda offense in the second half Saturday, pulling away for a  58-37 victory at Okabena.

MLAC held a slim one-point halftime edge, but controlled the second half by holding HLOF to six field goals and no free throws.

Meanwhile, eight different Wolverine scored in the second half as MLAC outscored the Coyotes 34-14.

Kolby Kremmin paced MLAC with 18 points. Carter Olson added 13 points in the win.

WWG 37-33 = 70
Edgerton 19-25 = 44

Westbrook-Walnut Grove was hot from the field and aggressive in the lane Saturday, claiming a 70-44 victory at Edgerton.

WWG shot 51% from the field. WWG also had 16 second-chance points and scored 22 points off Dutchmen turnovers.

Kole Curry paced WWG with 23 points. Cole VanDeWiele added 15 points in the victory.

AE 33-29 = 62
RRC 25-25 = 50

Red Rock Central couldn’t overcome an early deficit Saturday afternoon, dropping a 62-50 decision to Adrian-Ellsworth at Lamberton.

The Dragons held the Falcons to just over 37% shooting for the day, but free throws proved to be key. AE went 12-of-19 from the line, while RRC was just 6-of-14.

Isaac Simonson led RRC with 15 points. Ashton Holmen added 11 and Corey Arkell scored 10.

RRC 19-15 = 34
SE 22-24 = 46

A dismal night from the field doomed the Red Rock Central boys basketball team Friday, as RRC fell 46-34 at Sleepy Eye.

Neither team shot particularly well, but RRC finished the night under 27% from the field and 4-of-9 from the line.

Meanwhile, after leading by three at halftime, Sleepy Eye stretched its lead in the second half, including going 5-of-6 from the stripe late in the game.

Isaac Simonson led RRC with 10 points. Ashton Juhnke added eight points in the loss.
