Arrows thump Eagle boys

Pipestone blew the game open with a 22-3 run in the first half Tuesday, cruising to an 80-48 victory over the Windom Eagle boys basketball team at Windom.

Windom scored to cut the Arrow lead to 18-15 before Pipestone went on its 22-3 run over the final six minutes of the first half.

The Arrows shot 55% from the field for the game while holding the Eagles to 33% from the field.

Abe McKibbin led Windom with 16 points. Henry Erickson added 14 points in the loss.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey built an early lead and never allowed Red Rock Central back into the game Tuesday, as the Wolverines rolled to a 56-40 victory at Comfrey.

The Wolverines started the game with a 13-3 run and never allowed the lead to slip to lower than eight points. The Wolverines led by 12 at halftime and stretched the lead to 20 in the second half.

RRC’s offense was slowed when its leading scorer, Joe Strock, suffered an ankle injury halfway through the first half and did not return to action.

Carter Olson led a balanced effort for the Wolverines, finishing with 19 points. Kolby Kremmin and Ashton Toll each added 11 points.

Isaac Simonson paced RRC with 12 points. Corey Arkell added 11 points.
