The Windom Area boys hockey team scored on the power play and shorthanded Friday night, leading to a 4-1 Big South Conference victory at Waseca.
The Eagles jumped to the lead when Brady Espenson intercepted a pass and scored on a shorthanded breakaway 11:02 into the first period. The Eagles added to the lead just over a minute later, when Vance Koch blasted a shot from the blue line past the Bluejay goalie.
Waseca cut the deficit to 2-1 late in the first period, but the Eagles regained a two-goal lead when Cragen Porath scored with just five seconds left in the second period.
Zach Espenson added a power play goal 6:13 into the third period for the game’s final goal.
The Eagles outshot Waseca 44-12 in the contest. Dan Stubbe finished with 11 saves in the win.Â
