Eagle boys skate past Trojans

The Windom Area boys hockey team scored five straight goals to take command of the game Thursday, claiming a 5-2 victory over Worthington at the Windom Arena.

Worthington got on the scoreboard first, but the Eagles answered 10:59 into the first period on a goal from Brady Espenson.

The Eagles then flexed their muscles on the power play, as Wyatt Haugen and Sonny Heil scored power play goals to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead after two periods. Espenson then netted a third power play goal 2:10 into the final period for a 4-1 Eagle lead.

Zach Rabbe’s shot through traffic found the back of the net with 4:13 left on the clock for a 5-1 Eagle lead. Worthington scored with 1:58 remaining for the game’s final goal.

Windom Area outshot Worthington 49-23 in the game. Goalie Dan Stubbe finished with 21 saves in the win.
