Eagles claim thriller over Bulldogs

The Windom Area girls hockey team turned a turnover into the game’s only goal Friday night, claiming a 1-0 victory over Minnesota River at LeSueur.

After two scoreless periods, the Eagles were whistled for a penalty early in the third period. But a minute into the Bulldog power play, forward Presley Dockter intercepted a pass and scored a shorthanded breakaway goal, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

From there, goalie Kaylie Baerg made the lead stand, turning aside 11 shots in the final period to preserve the shutout victory.

The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 32-30 in the game. Baerg finished with 32 saves in the victory.
