Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey clamped down on defense in the second half Thursday night, surging to a 52-38 victory over Westbrook-Walnut Grove in Westbrook.
The Wolverines held a five-point halftime lead, but held the Charger attack in check in the second half. MLAC outscored WWG 25-16 in the second half.
The Wolverines shot 40% from the field for the game, while holding WWG to 29% from the field.
Brooke Naas led all scorers, finishing with 24 points for the Wolverines. Kate Janzen added 11 points in the win.
Isabel Klumper led WWG with 21 points, including scoring 15 of WWG’s 16 second-half points. Addeson Jenniges and Amelia Sikel added six points each.

Red Rock Central pounded the ball inside in the second half Thursday night, pulling away for a 56-38 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda at Okabena.
RRC held a six-point halftime lead, but battered the Coyotes in the paint in the second half. Karli Arkell scored 19 of her game-high 25 points over the final 18 minutes, while Sondra Rindfleisch added 10 of her 14 points in the second half.
Lilly Stavnes added eight points in the win for the Falcons.Â
