The weather statistics are complete for Windom for the month of December and it appears the month was pretty mild for local residents.
The average high temperature for the month was 35 degrees, while the average low was 17. The high temperature for the month was 58 degrees, recorded on Dec. 15, while the low temperature of the month was -12 degrees, recorded on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
High temperatures on 17 days during the month were above freezing and low temperatures above freezing were recorded on three days.
The Windom area received a total of 11.3 inches of snow during the month, with 10.6 inches of that total falling on Dec. 10. A half-inch and .2 inches of snow fell on Dec. 6 and 26, respectively, with traces of snow also falling on Dec. 19 and Dec. 29. Total precipitation for the month was 1.59 inches, with 1.13 inches of that coming from the 10.6 inch snowfall on Dec. 10. But Windom also received .33 inches of rain on Dec. 15.
Snow cover on the last day of the month was about 1 inch.
