Witness reports white van is linked to vandalism

Windom police officers are investigating a New Year’s Eve vandalism case in which the suspect vehicle may have been a white van.

According to the report, officers were called to the 600 block of Prospect Avenue regarding a report of vandalism to a parked 2016 Chevrolet. Matthew Hetrick of Windom told police he looked out the window of a nearby home and saw someone smashing the windshield with what appeared to be a crowbar.

Damage was estimated at $300 to $800. A suspect reportedly left the scene in a white van. The case remains under investigation.
