Eagle girls skate past Storm

The Windom Area girls hockey team headed to the holiday break with a two-game winning stream Thursday night, defeating Morris-Benson Area 6-2 in Benson.

The Eagles peppered the Storm net with 35 shots, including a 14-4 edge in the final period that saw the Eagles put the game away with four straight goals.

Presley Dockter got the Eagles on the board in the first period, then added a second goal in the second period.

The Storm answered with a goal late in the second and scored halfway through the third, tying the game at 2-2.

But the Eagles netted four goals in the final seven minutes of the game, taking the lead with two goals 11 seconds apart from Madelyn Schumacher and Elly Bang.

Then, Dockter and Marissa Becker scored 13 seconds apart, sealing the win.

The Eagles outshot the Storm 35-23 in the contest. Kaylie Baerg finished with 21 saves in the win.
