Windom Area Elementary School Assistant Principal Dane Nielsen always likes to put a smile on students’ faces. But an idea presented to him by para Emma Thaemlitz proved to be too good to refuse.
Wednesday morning, Nielsen arrived at school early, dressed in an elf costume provided by his dad, Per. With the help of the school custodians, Nielsen climbed a ladder and sat on the steel girder above the main entrance to the building as students arrived at school, greeting the students dressed as the “elf on the shelf.”
“Anything to bring some holiday cheer to our students,” Nielsen said. “I ended up sitting out there about 45 minutes as parents dropped kids off and the buses arrived.”
