A flurry of donations has provided a major lift to the Windom Area Foundation fund drive as it approaches the final week of a matching fund effort.
In the past week, at least 22 donations came in to the endowment and Veterans Memorial Fund (which is one of the Windom Area Foundation’s project funds). The two largest donations were:
• $25,000 from Tom White and daughters Melissa MacPherson, Ashley Johnson and Krystle Ella, in memory of Linda White, for the Veterans Memorial Fund.
• $10,000 from Bill and Harriet Olson for the endowment fund.
A $100,000 matching gift from Bank Midwest assures that for every $3 donated to the fund, Bank Midwest donates another $1. So $300,000 worth of donations would bring in $100,000 in Bank Midwest funds for a total of $400,000. That matching fund expires Dec. 31 of this year.
