Eagle girls fall in overtime

A goal from Rochester Century’s Megan Gamble 2:33 into overtime lifted the Panthers to a 5-4 victory over the Windom Area girls hockey team Saturday at the Windom Arena.

The Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the second period on goals from Ella Dockter and Elly Bang.

Early in the third period, the Eagles took a lead when Lyvia McManigle tipped home a rebound, but Century answered with back-to-back goals, retaking the lead.

With 2:13 left in regulation, Marenna Bang intercepted a clearing pass attempt and sent a bouncing past the Panther goalie, tying the game at 4-4 and sending it to overtime.

In overtime, the Panthers outshot the Eagles 3-1, winning the game when Gamble redirected a shot past Eagle goalie Kaylie Baerg.

Century outshot the Eagles 40-19 in the game. Baerg finished with 35 saves in the loss.
