The Windom Eagle girls basketball team went cold in the second half Tuesday night, falling 64-45 at Fairmont.
Fairmont led by six points at halftime, but pulled away in the second half by forcing the Eagles into 25 turnovers for the game.
Windom shot 35% from the field, but had 21 fewer shot attempts than the Cardinals.
Tristyn Maras led the Eagles with 10 points. Hadley Sammons, Kameron Rupp and K.J. Huska scored eight points each.
Springfield 17-23 = 40
RRC 30-25 = 55
Red Rock Central opened its season with a strong defensive performance Tuesday night, claiming a 55-40 victory over Springfield in Lamberton.
The Falcons dominated the glass in the win, outrebounding the Tigers 39-28 in the game. That edge on the glass helped RRC build a 13-point halftime lead.
Karli Arkell led the Falcons with 17 points. Lilly Stavnes added nine points in the win.
WWG 48-24 = 72
Madelia 01-09 = 10
Westbrook-Walnut Grove dominated on both ends of the floor Tuesday night, claiming its first win of the season with a 72-10 win at Madelia.
The Chargers held the Blackhawks to 8% shooting for the game, with just three field goals made.
WWG held a 48-1 halftime lead.
Isabel Klumper led WWG with 22 points in the win. Abby Wiggins scored 21 and Amelia Sickel added 12.
Luverne 41-37 = 78
MLAC 15-25 = 40
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey sputtered on offense out of the blocks Tuesday night, dropping its season opener 78-4-0 to Luverne in Mt. Lake.
The Cardinals’ length and quickness created problems for the Wolverines, who shot 29% from the field and committed 26 turnovers in the game.
Brooke Naas led the Wolverines with 19 points. Riley Schroeder added eight points in the loss.Â
