Residents eye $600 prize as deadline approaches

Just a few more days remain before Monday’s noon Christmas lighting contest deadline and a few residents are just getting started with their holiday decorations–not only for the top $600 prize, but also to create enjoyment for area residents.

The Windom Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and Windom Area Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsors of the event which not only recognizes (and gives prizes to) the top decorated homes, but does the same with the best-decorated businesses.

Plans are to create a map or list of all addresses for homes and businesses in the contest. Residents will then be able to take a drive through the community, enjoying the lights and making their votes as to which ones they think are best. The public will vote from Dec. 6 to 16. Call the Chamber office at 831-2752 to sign up, or for information.
