The Windom Area girls hockey team found its offensive touch last Tuesday night, picking up its first win of the season with a 7-0 shutout at Waseca.
The Eagles peppered the Bluejay net with 37 shots in the game and scored four goals in the first period, with three coming in a stretch of less than three minutes.
Elly Bang opened the scoring at the 7:01 mark of the period. Then, at the 8:56 mark, Toria Robillard knocked in a rebound of a Presley Dockter shot for a goal. Dockter scored the next Eagle goal herself at the 9:29 mark of the period.
Robillard added her second goal of the game with 1:54 left on the first period clock, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
In the second period, Madelyn Schumacher blasted a shot through traffic for a goal early in the frame. Then, with 2:05 left in the period, Bang netted her second goal of the game.
Windom Area scored the game’s final goal eight seconds into the third period, as Dockter cleanly picked the face-off and wove through the Bluejay defense for a goal.
The Eagles outshot Waseca 37-12 for the contest, with Eagle goalie Kaylie Baerg stopping all 12 shots for a shutout win.Â
