Disney’s High School Musical is a stage production of the original Disney Channel movie of the same name. It tells the tale of basketball star Troy Bolton and science whiz Gabriella Montez, who meet each other while singing karaoke on New Year’s Eve. The two decide to audition for the school’s musical, to the dismay of the usual stars of the theater department, Sharpay and Ryan Evans.
The play covers a variety of subjects common to high schoolers: fitting in, exploring hidden talents and trying new things.
A cast and crew of over 30 students will put on the show, which is directed by Emily Riordan. Sarah Theesfeld is the assistant director, while Rachel Axford is the musical director.
