Catalytic converter thefts continue locally

The string of Windom area catalytic converter thefts has continued over the past couple of weeks.

The latest converter theft occurred on Oct. 22. Officers took a theft report from Pedro Reynosa of Windom, who said a catalytic converter was removed from his 2007 Toyota Prius (a common converter theft target).

The theft occurred while the vehicle was parked in the 1500 block of Third Avenue. The case is under investigation.

Local authorities urge residents to report any suspicious activity immediately. A few of the recent thefts have involved thieves jacking up vehicles in order to remove the converters.
