City council to hold budget meetings next week

The Windom City Council is getting set to make critical budget decisions and two upcoming meetings could hold the key to what the council decides.

The council is scheduled to meet in special session Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 at the Windom Community Center. Both meetings are strictly for the purpose of budget discussions and both meetings begin at 6 p.m.

The plan is for the council to meet with department heads, one at a time, going over their 2022 financial plans and possible capital improvement requests. The Monday meeting will involve non-revenue-producing departments, such as the street department. Wednesday’s meeting will focus on revenue-producing departments, such as River Bend Liquor.

In addition, the council will meet in regular session on Tuesday night, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Windom City Hall.
