At Tuesday’s meeting, Mayor Dominic Jones asked that city department heads keep committees informed and updated on budgets, as they relate to those committees.
Using the Park and Recreation Department as an example, Jones suggested that committees can do a better job of planning and being part of the system if they have a better handle on funding. Council members Jayesun Sherman, Jenny Quade and James Nelson appeared to agree, although Nelson noted that he could see potential conflict between committees if some are seeking additional funds at the same time.
Although this new approach may have little impact on the current budget, Jones said it can be a positive, longterm.
