Young riders escape serious injury in ATV crash

Two area youth avoided serious injuries in a recent ATV crash that occurred early Sunday evening near the intersection of County Road 51 and 500th Avenue, about two miles north of Delft.

According to the report, two males, ages 10 and 12, were in a side-by-side ATV on a friend’s property when the driver swerved to avoid a tree. In the process, the driver meant to hit the brake, but hit the accelerator, instead. As a result the ATV rolled.

Neither party wore a helmet and both were taken to the hospital by witnesses. Injuries were reportedly minor.
