Council declares Fourth Avenue home “hazardous”

At a recent meeting, the Windom City Council declared a local fire-damaged home to be a hazardous building.

The decision came at the request of Building Official Andrew Spielman, who pointed out that a Feb. 5 fire left the home’s second floor completely open to the weather. The house is also missing windows and doors.

The hazardous declaration gives the homeowner 20 days to respond to questions as to how the situation will be resolved. At this point, the homeowner has not notified the city of his plans.
