Cottonwood County and much of Southern Minnesota is in an enhanced risk for severe weather this afternoon.
An enhanced risk is the third-highest level of severe weather risk, as stated by the National Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla.
According to the SPC, severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts are likely over much of Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa this afternoon. The risk also states the possibility for heavy rainfall, large hail and isolated tornadoes.
The NWS and SPC have not yet issued any severe weather watches for the region. However, as conditions show signs of intensifying, watches would likely be issued.
